A Toolbox to Successful Grants Workshop
Region 3
Topic: General Information
Event Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
Location: Community Health Systems Building, 204 19th Street East, Jasper, AL 35501

One of the goals of Governor Riley’s 2010 Plan is to provide citizens and leaders of Alabama the resources to achieve their vision for their community. The ADECA, Alabama Rural Action Commission, and Community Partnership for Reentry and Recovery have developed a program to introduce communities to the grant process.   There are numerous grants available which would fund community and economic development and education improvements, but the application process itself is stringent and multifaceted. In order to better equip local leadership for this task the toolbox workshops are being presented across the state.

The program begins with Project Planning; the who, what, when, where, and how of projects.  Then we introduce local resources such as the regional councils of government, always insisting that the regions be their first contact when planning a project.  We discuss Federal, State, Nonprofit and corporate funding.  Then we do about an hour and half of actual grant writing, with emphasis on preparing the project and the resources necessary for successfully administering grant funds.

These workshops are an introduction not a technical grant writing course.

Light refreshments will be provided. Seating is limited. RSVP by February 27, 2009 by contacting Linda at (205) 384-4571 or linda@walkerchamber.us.
