MARGARET BENTLEY

State Co-Chair

Margaret Bentley was appointed by Governor Bob Riley to Co-Chair the Alabama Rural Action Commission. Margaret is an Area Manager for Alabama Power. She is responsible for business office operations, economic development, and governmental relations in the company's Southern Division.

Margaret has played a leadership role in numerous charitable and civic organizations across the state. She was presented with AUM's Innovative Governments Award in 2006. She is currently serving on the following boards:

State Co-Chair: Governor's Black Belt Action Commission

Vice-President: Auburn Women's Philanthropy Board

Vice-President- Board of Directors: Boys and Girls Clubs in Montgomery

Executive Board: I-85 Corridor Alliance

Advisory Board: UAB Montgomery Internal Residency Program

Advisory Board: HIPPY (home instruction for parents of pre-school youth)

Margaret is married to Danny Bentley from Oneonta, Alabama. Danny owns and operates a radio stadion. They have a son, Luke, who graduated from Duke University and is a pilot in the Air Force Reserve. Their daughter, Mary Ellen, graduated from the University of South Carolina and lives in Atlanta. They have two grandchildren: Luther Daniel Bentley V and Annalee Hastings Bentley.
